I have managed to harvest many interesting blocks from a couple of large slices of Kentish grown Yew. The planks have been well seasoned and not Kiln Dried.

There are some blocks with the outer lighter sapwood layer giving some very interesting patterns and off course some great colour and graining.

Also known as Black Chacate, or False Mopane, this timber varies from streaks of dark brown to black heartwood with lighter, honeybrown streaks. It has a fine texture and interlocking grain and is a hardish timber which cuts to a good finish and will polish to a high shine with a deep lustre.

Concalo Aves is a hardwood (from the Brazilian Portuguese name, gonçalo-alves). It is sometimes referred to as zebrawood or tigerwood - names that underscore the wood's often dramatic, contrasting color scheme, that some compare to rosewood.
While the sapwood is very light in color, the heartwood is a sombre brown, with dark streaks that give it a unique look. The wood's color deepens with exposure and age and even the plainer-looking wood has a natural luster.
