Size 23 x 40 x 125mm. Part seasoned. Very popular with knifemakers for its unusual graining. Botanical Name: Cordia gerascanthus. Country of origin: Mexico. SG.96. A small tree rarely growing more than 0.3m diameter. Heartwood is yellow-brown with a green tinge when first cut, darkening on exposure to a mild brown with black lines and markings. Straight to irregular grain, fine even texture, the wood has a slight oily feel to the touch. Dries slowly with little degrade if care is taken. Saws moderately well but tends to dull the cutting edges quickly. Can be bought to a very good finish. Used for high quality knife handles.

Guibourtia coleosperma Air dried.Not a true Rosewood (Dalbegia) but a member of the Bubinga family (but not CITES Listed) and just maybe, the most beautitiful blocks we have.The colour varies from reddish brown to pink with lighter streaks, some yellow to pale straw colour. Some blanks are reminiscent of Brazilian Tulip. Polishes up really well.It works just like Bubinga, slightly hard but crisp and takes abrasives well.
