Burls from black locust trees have the finest figured and densest wood of all burls, making each piece completely unique. The wood is extremely hard, resistant to rot and durable, prised for furniture, flooring and small watercraft. With a Janka hardness around 1700, it is significantly more durable outdoors than oak, and flavonoids in the heartwood allow it to last over 100 years in soil.
